Dear President,
As you may be aware, the World Health Organization (WHO) is currently in the process of revising the chapter on mental and behavioural disorders of the ICD-10. The WPA is assisting the WHO in this task as part of the WPA-WHO Work Plan for 2008-2011.
There will be a variety of opportunities for participation of WPA Member Societies. Enclosed with this letter is a brief description of several types of participation opportunities. For each one, we are asking that you indicate whether you believe that your Society would be interested and has the resources and infrastructure necessary to participate successfully. You are also asked to indicate, if applicable, whether your Society has the capability to translate relevant materials from English to the main professional language of your members.
We would like for you to be open with us about the kind of activities your Society is most interested in, and not to feel pressured to participate in any particular way or in all the proposed activities. This will help us to match our requests to your Society's interests and capabilities.
We look forward to receiving your feedback by November 30. After hearing from you, we will be in touch with you in the following months about the participation opportunities you have indicated might be of most interest to your Society.
